AI & Repair – Supporting Repair Culture in a Circular Economy

Students will:

  1.  Understand repair as a key practice in the Circular Economy.
  2. Explore why repair is often avoided in favour of replacement.
  3. Reflect on how AI systems could support repair without undermining human skills or autonomy.
  4. Recognize the risks of over-automation and dependency on technology.
  5. Define ethical limits for AI use in repair contexts.
  6. Develop design principles that prioritise repair culture, fairness, and human decision-making.
